PROFILE
I am pursuing opportunities for partnership working, strategic planning and project management with a focus on the built environment and sustainability. This is in response to the urgent need to address climate change and tackle issues such as poor housing and fuel poverty.
Until June 2018 I was a committee member and Treasurer of the Manchester based Carbon Co-op which takes a community approach to addressing climate change. Through Carbon Co-op I worked on a retrofit advocacy project, and have acted as a Carbon Champion to engage with the local community to reduce emissions. More locally I was Chair of the local group Sustainable Living in the Heatons from 2015-16.
Cultural engagement formed the core of my consultancy work 2007-2010. I worked with colleagues in cultural organisations, both national and local, in the area of the virtual environment in projects related to digitisation of and access to museum and archive collections. Clients included the East of Scotland Museums Partnership; the Galleries of Justice Museum, Nottingham; Renaissance in the Regions hubs in the East Midlands, London and the North West and other local clients; Scottish Council on Archives; and the Sir John Soane's Museum.
My previous role was as Deputy Director at Lakeside Arts Centre in Nottingham. My earlier career as a curator, exhibitions organiser and manager gave me opportunities to work in London, Portsmouth and Manchester, as well as to travel internationally, and my last senior management role at the Whitworth Art Gallery was as Head of Administration. Through these roles I acquired many different skills including strategic planning, project management, and partnership working. Key projects include innovations in physical and intellectual access to museum and gallery collections, the development of major capital schemes at the Whitworth Art Gallery, and the refurbishment and extension of the Djanogly Art Gallery in Nottingham
